This speaker is believed to be the first LS3/5a produced in-house by BBC Design Department. The BBC produced a number of units themselves to ensure the reproducability of the design before it was licenced to manufacturers. |
This speaker's history is confirmed by the BBC logo, Dymo label 001 on the back, XLR socket (all LS3/5as and other monitors supplied to the BBC used their standard of a 3-pin XLR for input). The rear panel is screwed on, manufactured LS3/5as have a non removeable back.
